Q & A and Talk Column
Chris,

I have had this cue and never could find out exactly what model it was some
people try to tell me it's a B or a C from the 2nd catalog, but I'd like to
be sure. You know a lot about Palmer so if anyone could tell me it'd
probably be you.

Matt,

Judging by the joint and parts used, it's a custom Palmer made in about 1968 - 1970 based on a design from 1965.

While it looks similar to other models, it is not a standard model, it is unique. I believe that your cue was inspired by the First Catalog Model 8, which was a bar cue with a window and similar butt confirguration. However, I also believe it was built at a later date, 1968 - 1970 time period using parts that were available then.

For example, the buttwork is made from parts from various models. The blue butt sleeve parts are from the Model G second catalog. The rings look like they're from a Model E. The forearm is from the bar cues used during that time period.

Thanks for writing in and for the close up picture of the joint. These photos make it easier to identify the cue.
