Q & A and Talk Column
Chris,

I met this guy and bought a cue today.  This is incredible! It was bought at an Estate sale. It was owned by a 70 year old man. The man purchased this cue new with the case  in 64,  the same year he bought his first new car, a 1964 Chevy Impala SS. He decided he wanted to play pool. After playing 3 months with the cue 1 or 2 times a week, he lost a complete paycheck gambling after work one Friday. His wife made him stop playing pool and the cue was never used again.

It was found by his son in a safe deposit box. It looks like the day it left Palmer in 65 and the case is just as nice! The butt and shaft roll as straight as an arrow. There is not a mark on this cue. The tip has some chalk on it,but if I unscrewed the ferrule and put the brand new original extra ferrule with tip it would look like a brand new 1965 Palmer Model 11.

I also have a few Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and I must have heard the story about a guy finding an old original Panhead Harley in a barn with 100 miles on the speedo 50 times. This is almost the same thing,  just a Palmer instead of a Harley,  and this really happened.

Guy,

Come on, Guy, you really expect me to swallow that old story? A kid finds his pop's 40 year old brand new Model 11 Palmer in a safe deposit box with the original case?

Well  in your case an urban legend really did come true. Holy Moly! You are really fortunate to have found the cue before I did. Rub it in a little!

It looks like a fantastic pre-catalog variation of the Model 11, which was changed a little after that time. With your permission, I am going to have devote an entire page to your cue, your case, and your story.  Congratulations, Guy, you should be proud.  The cue and case look like the day they were made.

Wait a minute. What's that? It seems that the Post Office just delivered the Balabushka that I ordered in 1965. It was lost in the mail all these years. Just look at the shape that cue is in!
