We are fortunate to have someone like Barry Szamboti. Barry is very proud of the work his family did, and he is more than generous with his knowledge. After he visited The Palmer Collector, he called me from out of the blue to give me this information. He sent me an envelope of receipts Gus had written up to Palmer for the work he did.

Gus Szamboti did a lot of work for Palmer from the early 1970's until late 1980's. He Primarily made reverse ebony blanks, like those used on the "J" and the 3rd Catalog Model 16, the eight prong forearm used on the 3rd catalog model 19, and 4 prong forearms used on the premium cues. These were built to Palmers specs, so are nearly identical to the work Palmer has done in-house. Palmer continued to built customs by special order from the catalogs until the late 1980's.

If you own a Palmer from the 2nd or 3rd catalog era with an original leather wrap from the 1970's or 1980-'s, consider yourself lucky. I only have one. Gus also did their leather wraps.

Thanks, Barry!
Gus Szamboti and Palmer
The receipt below is for seven reverse prong forearms (for the Model 16) and six 8 prong (ebony and maple) forearms for the Model 19.
